Choke on Chicken
April 22, 2008 · 1 Comment
Today, my grandmother had me over for supper.
We ate cabbage, mashed potatoes, cornbread, tomato and country ham. Sweet tea to match. It was delicious.
I took the opportunity to interview her.
She told stories.
Once upon a time while my great grandfather was at the Veteran’s Hospital in Columbia, my great grandmother chocked on a chicken bone. With it stuck in her throat, she went to St. Francis Hospital. While there, she became a Christian at the age of 40-something. It altered her life forever, and I thought it funny how choking on a chicken bone lead to such a monumental decision.

Today, I read this. It brought a smirk on.
“Obama Turns Tables on Clinton” -AP
“Clinton has told campaign audiences that she supports the rights of hunters. Saturday, she reminisced about learning to shoot on family vacations in Scranton, where her father grew up. She’s also said she once shot a duck in Arkansas, where she served as first lady.”
Maybe the next campaign stop she’ll pull out the “Some of my best friends are black” line.
All of us who are concerned for peace and triumph of reason and justice must be keenly aware how small an influence reason and honest good will exert upon events in the political field. ~Albert Einstein
Today – With my energies exasperated – I planned only for tomorrow and said screw the other days in the week.
My throat is scratchy and my worry is minimal.
